Founded in 1944, in a small pastry shop on Viale Monza in Milan, the enterprising Angelo Vergani started his own bakery. Now, Vergani is celebrated for its traditional panettone and other holiday treats.
Using the original family recipe from great-grandfather Angelo, the naturally leavened sourdough oozes with limoncello cream and candied lemon peel (no raisins in this one) for a light, bright and zesty flavour and aroma.
The Vergani family – ever the innovators – have made it possible for everyone to experience one of the sweetest Italian traditions with their gluten-free panettone. A 72-hour rising process ensures this gluten-free alternative has exactly the same fluffiness of texture that you’d expect from a traditional panettone. Panettone is a staple of the holiday season in Italy – in fact, no Christmas season would be complete without one, especially when served with a glass of sweet wine and some gelato.
